The holiness, charity and apostolic practice...

of Madre Paulina and her sisters, attracted many other young women.

Despite the poverty and immense difficulties in which the little sisters lived, the example they set was a drag. For this reason, many young women joined the Congregation. They continued to care for the sick, the parish, orphaned children and the poor. In addition, they started a small silk industry in order to survive and support the charities.

In 1903, 38 years old...

just eight years after the ecclesiastical approval...

the recognition of the Congregation was already notorious in Brazil because of the holiness of life of the Little Sisters and the extremely necessary work they performed. That's why, that year, Mother Paulina was called to extend her work to São Paulo. She saw in the invitation a call from God and accepted the challenge.

In São Paulo....

Madre Paulina and some sisters went to live in the Ipiranga neighborhood, next to a chapel.

Soon she began an important work: the work of the Sagrada Família, which aimed to shelter former slaves and their families after the abolition of slavery, which had taken place in 1888. These families lived in terrible conditions and the work of Mother Paulina gave them some dignity.
