And yet, mixed with my great joy at having given the world a glimpse of Kibeho, an introduction to the visionaries, and a sampling of the many messages revealed by them, there was a feeling that I hadn’t done complete justice to a particular Kibeho story that, in some ways, I most wanted to tell: the story of Segatashya.
You see, although I mentioned and described each of the eight main Kibeho visionaries (including Se-gatashya) in 'Our Lady of Kibeho', my main focus in that book was centered almost entirely upon the three original Church-sanctioned visionaries and their apparitions of the Virgin Mary.
I am very, very respectful of the Catholic Church and the Vatican, and did not want to cause trouble or upset their officials in Rwanda, nor the officials in Rome, by going into details about visions and messages the Church has yet to officially approve.
The Vatican is very cautious when it comes to recognizing any event that is claimed by some to be a miracle. Any type of event deemed remotely supernatural is methodically scrutinized by Church experts before a verdict is pronounced on either its validity or its falsehood.

Among the Vatican’s many concerns and apprehensions surrounding the subject of miracles and apparitions is the highly justifiable worry that such phenomena could be the work of demons or the devil himself—that what may seem like a heavenly miracle at first glance, is actually a satanic ruse intended to lead unwary people into darkness, sin, and damnation.
In fact, because Segatashya’s visions had not been immediately included in the Church’s official recognition of Kibeho, I at first worried that someone in the Vatican or in the Rwandan Church hierarchy was suspicious of Segatashya and his messages.
But, praise be to God, I was assured that the complete opposite was true; in fact, every member of the Church who was familiar with the apparitions of Kibeho held Segatashya in high-est esteem, both as a person and as a visionary.
Several of the most highly placed Church authorities in Rwanda personally guaranteed me that every vision and message Segatashya received, was thoroughly investigated and reinvestigated. In the end, no one involved had the slightest doubt about either the boy’s sincerity or the authenticity of his encounters with Jesus or Mary.
