The event that marked the actual beginning of the Pilgrimage centre...

can be traced to the Novitate House of the Holy Ghost Fathers [cf.Marcel Lefebvre] in [oil rich] Awo-Omama in Imo State Nigeria, where Father Edeh stayed and taught for five months on his return from studies at [private, catholic] De Paul University in Chicago, USA.

It was in the month of February, 1984...

when Father Edeh returned to Nigeria from the USA.

He was posted to the Novitate House of the Holy Ghost Fathers Awo-Omama to join the team of formators for some months before going to the Philosophy House Isienu, Nsukka to teach Philosophy.

It should be remembered that Father Edeh returned to the country after the horrible Nigerian Civil War which lasted for complete thirty months [1967-1970]. The aftermath effect of the war was unimaginable. Many people in the country were sick, hungry, homeless, and dejected. Many were maimed [verminkt], orphaned and without hope.

During his brief stay in the Novitiate, Father Edeh was faced with the reality of human suffering. In his usual empathy and compassion, he engaged himself in taking care of those who came to him seeking both spiritual and material help. God through his prayers started manifesting His power to save and pour blessings on His people.

This gift of effective intercession was first noticed in Father Edeh by the Jesuit Fathers at Loyola University Medical Centre, Chicago. There and then, some doctors began noticing some unprecedented recoveries on some of their patients who testified that they gained their health after they were prayed for by a black priest - Fr. Edeh happened to be the only black priest working in the hospital at that time.

This became clear when those Father Edeh prayed for at Awo-Omama álso started testifying. Many people were flocking to Awo-Omama to see Father Edeh for several spiritual and material needs.
