1 Adhbhyaa sambhootha pruthvyai rasascha - Viswakarmanas samavarthadhi
Tasyas twashtaa vidhadh drupamethi - Tad purushasya viswa maajanam agre
From water and essence of earth the whole universe was born
From the Creator of the Universe Brahma was born
Through Brahma the great God, who made this world, is spread
All fourteen worlds were there from the beginning
2 Vedaham etham purusham mahantham - Aadithyavarna thamasa parasthath
Thamevam vidwan amrutha iha bhavathi - Nanya pandhaa vidhyathe ayanaaya
I know that great Purusha, who shines like the sun and is beyond darkness
And the one who knows Him thus attains salvation even in this birth
And there is no other method of salvation
3 Prajapathis charathi garbhe antha - Aajayamano bahudha vijaayathe
Tasya dheera parijananthi yonim - Mareechinaam padamicchanthi vedhasa
The Lord of the universe lives inside His universe
And without being born appears in many forms
Only the wise realize His real form
Brahma longing to be as savant as Marichi
4 Yo devebhya aathapathi - Yo devaanaam purohitha
Poorvo yo devebhyo jatha - Namo ruchaaya brahmaye
Salutations to the ever shining brahman
Who gives divine power to the devas
Who is the teacher of the devas
Who was born before the devas
5 Rucha brahmam janayantha - Devaa agne tadha bruvan
Yasthaiva barahmano vidhyat - Tasya deva asaan vase
The devas who were taught the taste in Brahma
Told in ancient times that he who has interest in Brahma
Will have the devas under his control
6 Hreescha the lakshmischa patnyou - Ahorathre paarswe
Nakshatrani roopam - Aswinou vyatham
Ishtam manishaana - Amum manishana - Sarve manishana
Hri and Lakshmi are your wives, day and night your right and left
The constellation of stars your body, Ashwini devas your open mouth
Give us the knowledge that we want, give us the pleasures of this world
And give us everything of the other world as well
7 Tta cham yoravrunimahe - Gatum yagnaya
Gatum yagna-pataye - Daivi svastir-astu nah
Svastir-manushebhyah - Urdhvam jigatu bheshajam
Sanno astu dvipadhe - Sanchatush-pade
Om shantih shantih shantih
We pray for the growth of fire sacrifices
To the one who presides over such sacrifices
We pray that only good should occur
We pray for the mercy of gods to man
We pray that the herbs and plants
Grow taller towards the skies
Goodness for all two legged beings
Goodness for all four legged beings
