Q: What is the mission of the feminine energy in this country? I ask this, because recently there have been successive incidents of violence toward women in Peru.
A: You see, very often there is discrimination between men and women. The point is, you see, everybody has the right place, it's not about who you are, whether that is feminine or masculine. When people forget, and can't respect the other, and want to control, this is when violence starts. And the violence goes towards the one who is weak...
You see, in the Hindu tradition, we always placed the woman first. When we look at the Deity, for example, the feminine name is always put first... always she is first, thén the husband: Radhe-shyam, Sita-ram... So you see, the woman is always placed first.
Because she is a mother, firstly. And the mother figure is a very respected figure. The mother has a certain Grace inside - I am not discriminating the father - but more than a father, the mother has a certain sweetness inside of them, which in truth is in inside of everything. Have a mother look after the children, the father doesn't have that patience.
So, nature itself, you see, when we talked about nature earlier, I said we are all part of nature... Within the Path that we follow, especially our Path, the Path of Devotion, we view everything as feminine. So which means, everything which is created is feminine. Only one, which is masculine, which is Purusha. So we have Purusha and Prakrit. God is the only one which is masculine.
That's why he doesn't go through any changes. He is eternal. Whereas Prakriti goes continuously through changes. For example, the men, they just do the baby, but who has to do all the work? It's the mother! So he just do one thing, but the mother has to carry on, for nine months carry the baby inside, and then after that, still it is not finished. Then, when the child is growing up, who has more worry? It is the mother who has more worry! So like that, you see, Prakriti goes through continuous changes.
So the feminine energy... we are áll part of that energy. Don't think that your body being male, means that it is you are only male. No. You have also, you see, you have ardhanarishwara, which means you have half man half woman, you have both energies inside of you. Nóthing can be only fully male. So in the tradition it is like that, you have both qualities inside of you... Even if an Avatar comes, he has to come into the womb of a mother...
Thus remember that this image is very important. And I am talking not only about the feminine, I am talking about creation... Creation longs for its Creator. And this is where the Creator and Creation come together. So when this is forgotten, of course then there will be violence, you know, then there will be all kind of craziness. Not only in Peru, you have this everywhere in the world, you know...
Yesterday in India also, you can see how they have forgotten about that! Where once, the mother figure, and the mataji's, the women, were protected! Nowadays they are being abused. So you see, that mind set must change again.
There is also education... often you see, that people who do such act, this is lack of education. And not when I am talking about education, I am talking about book knowledge! I am not talking about when you go to school, where they teach you how to become an entrepreneur, become an IT manager, or whatever, no... But you have, the human values are gone.
When mind is so much into the world outside, I want to become this, I have to have this, I have to have that, if I have this I would be happy... But then, what happens? You become competitive, which is continously in competition with the world, always focused on the world... Then you loose respect of who you are, of the people around you, then you become worse than an animal!"
