September 29...
after a month of absence...
the Virgin appeared again on the other side of the valley, on the Pindreau hill.
She asks Benoîte to look for a little chapel in Laus, where sweet smells float...
and to come and pray to her there.
That there, she will talk to her...
and meet her very often.
The next day, Benoîte discovered on the hill of Laus, located on the other side of the Avance, a thatched oratory, dedicated to “Notre-Dame de Bonne-Rencontre”, of which only ruins remained.
Wonderful perfumes were indeed felt there.
And now the Virgin appeared on the poor plaster altar, to the right of the tabernacle. At this sight, Benoîte said to the one she called her Good mother, full of naivete: 'Allow me to put my apron [schort] under your feet, it is all white with powder'.
The Virgin, refusing, smiled at her, announcing that a large church would be built in that place, intended for the conversion of sinners.
Benoîte would tell the chroniclers that Mary wanted to 'build a church in honor of Her very Beloved Son and Herself, where many sinners, both male and female, would be converted.
The shepherdess pointed out to the Virgin, the place being very poor: 'There is no money to build a church, so the chapel is in great danger of remaining that way'.
To which the Virgin replied that she did not have to worry about it, and that everything would come in its time, and that a beautiful church would be well built there.
The Virgin invited Benoîte to return frequently to this place...
to see her again.
From then on...
the appearances followed one another for Benoîte.
Every day, according to one of the chroniclers, for fifty-three years.
And on the faith of her statements, the pilgrims flocked to Laus, from the following year, some even amounting in the month of March, despite the snow.
Very quickly stories of miracles and extraordinary graces circulated...
attracting an ever-growing crowd.
