It seems to be a kind of heavenly setting.

The Virgin's throne room, something of that nature.

These saints lived at different times.

Saint Catherine of Alexandria had a vision... 

in which she saw the Christ Child, putting a ring on her finger.

In that sense, she becomes in a way the examplar for all of the nuns...

or in this case, the hospital sisters, who are brides of Christ.

The Lady in green is Saint Barbara...

They are all martyrs, three of these saints were killed.

They tried to kill Saint John Evangelist too, they boiled him in oil, but he survived...

It is believed that you can call upon a martyr to help you have a good death!

Because martyrs have the best death of all, they are baptised with their blood.

They go directly to heaven, they do not pass purgatory.

They were assured of entry into heaven.

Barbara's tower is actually a monstrans, here.

There is a sort of cilindrical glass container within.

And you can see the circular, rounded shape of a host.

Or we could call it a ciborium...

In those they would keep the reserve hosts.

And they were sometimes called 'towers', 'turris'...

Reserve hosts are the left overs of consecrated hosts.

You would need them in the hospital, while someone might be in danger of death...

and one perhaps hasn't the time to go through the whole mass...

You remember that the Mass re-enacts the crucifixion.

An earns merits for salvation, and salvation is what it is all about.

The story goes that he had to drink wine that was poisoned.

But than he made the sign of the cross...

So there is a kind of eucharistic connection.

You have the chalice, and at the same side the tower with the host.

dat u tot het einde der tijden zal vergezellen... 

is de Eucharistie. 

Het is een Licht dat nooit zal ondergaan.

Nu is er op elke plaats, in elk volk en natie een hoek, soms verborgen, waar het kruisoffer wordt herhaald en het eucharistisch brood je voedsel wordt: 

mijn Zoon, in de tekenen van brood en wijn.

In elke kerk is hij aanwezig... 

alsof hij het offer wil voortzetten dat eerder op het altaar werd gebracht. 

Zijn aanwezigheid in het tabernakel moet je dat mysterie van dood en opstanding doen herbeleven.

Ook het is een mysterie van Licht. 

Versluierd Licht, anders zou het je verblinden. 

Maar een Licht dat je leven wil verlichten. 

En het verlicht het, zelfs als je vaak afgeleid bent.

Als je Jezus ontvangt... 

die zich voedt met Zijn Lichaam en Zijn Bloed... 

voel je zijn Liefde voor jou, voor ons, voor iedereen.

Er zijn geen woorden... 

om de waarde, de kostbaarheid van dit geschenk te beschrijven. 

Elke keer dat het Heilig Offer wordt gevierd, ben ik naast het altaar... 

om samen met jou na te denken, te aanbidden. 

Het is die Jezus Die uit mij geboren is. 

Het is die Jezus Die stierf aan het kruis. 

Het is die Jezus Die glorieus verrees... 

en Die jou nu van het altaar naar zijn Koninkrijk wil leiden: 

Hij wil je reisgenoot zijn... 

om Hem te bereiken.

In de Eucharistie is alles aanwezig. 

Alles is mogelijk met de Eucharistie. 

Het is een Mysterie van Licht en Vreugde. 

Omdat Jezus, en enkel Jezus, jouw enige vreugde kan zijn. 

De vreugde die nooit ondergaat. 

Aanbid.

Dank. 

Proef de zoetheid van dit geschenk. 

Ik wil het aan je voorstellen, als je deelneemt aan dit offer.

In dit geschenk aanschouw je Jezus... 

Die voor jou aan het kruis sterft. 

Maar tegelijkertijd aanschouw je Hem glorieus, verrezen en levend. 

Die ook jou de vreugde schenkt van de opstanding in zijn Koninkrijk.

Ik, Zijn Moeder, ben al in zijn Koninkrijk van Glorie. 

Maar - onthoud - dezelfde glorie die ik geniet...

Gesteund door dit Brood, zul je slagen. 

Ondanks de moeilijkheden die je tegen kunt komen.

Telkens wanneer je de Eucharistie nadert, denk er dan aan... 

dat ik het je aanbied, zoals ik Jezus aanbood in Bethlehem... 

toen hij bij mij werd geboren.

Ik zal je helpen... 

je onder te dompelen... 

in Zijn liefde.

One morning, after praying with Cosimo... 

I say to him: 'Cosimo, if I saw Jesus, I would die.' 

And he put his hand on his forehead, and said: 

'What are you saying, mom!' 

And I: 'Yés, if I see Jesus, I die.' 

And he: 'Mom, you don't die.' 

'Because you eat Him, you don't die!' 

'Eating is more than seeing, He gets inside of you.'

For the umpteenth [zoveelste] time, that child was right: 

eating is more than seeing!

Rosaria had one of the many pneumonia that accompanied her throughout her life... 

so we decided that as soon as she left the hospital, she would receive first communion. 

As we gave her this news, she flourished again

But a strange request was made on her part. 

She told us: 'Mom, Dad, I want to have my first communion in the hospital chapel.' 

And I immediately replied: 'Rosaria, we are always in the hospital, at least at a day of celebration, we go somewhere else." 

And she: 'Mom, do you not realize that when we go down to the chapel, there are only people crying? I would like to give Jesus a day of joy and celebration!'

And so it was. 

We asked permission from our parish priest who allowed us to do it there. 

Rosaria was not mistaken: it was a great event for patients, hospital staff and for Jesus. 

In the evening, before going to sleep, she said: 'Mom, I'm so happy!' 

'I would like all the children to be happy like me... 

today Jesus smiled so much!'

Worried about having this strange character at home, that is Pippo... 

one day I asked him how Pippo was... 

and he: 'For me, he is an angel, because mom, you don't see him?' 

I replied: 'Cosimo, mother is not as special as you are...'

One day, a priest asked him the same question. 

And he: 'Why can't you see him?' 

He said no, then Cosimo said: 'Then you are not as special as my mother says.'

For him there were no borders. Heaven and earth were one.

In short, our house was always crowded with characters that our eyes did not see. So I confronted my spiritual father, and he said to me: 'Carolina, don't ask for anything, let him live peacefully, when he shares these events with you, leave him alone, and welcome what he tells you and treasure it!' 

So I always did, and now Pippo was part of our family, and everyone knew it.

One of the things Cosimo did... 

was communion for his angel Pippo. 

Because Pippo could adore Jesus, but could not eat him. 

So he offered Pippo his body, to be able to take Jesus. 

'Mom, it is beautiful, I feel like I fly when I do this.'

After the Babylonians crushed Jerusalem... 

and destroyed Solomon's Temple in 587 B.C.... 

the Ark of the Covenant - the Holy Container that held the Ten Commandments - 

was never seen again. 

In 2 Macabbees it says, that... 

´the place of the Ark will remain unknown... 

until God gathers His people together again, and shows them Mercy´.

[2 Macc 2:7]

We live in the time of great Mercy. 

A time when, through St. Faustina, God reminds us of His boundless Love for wretched [ellendige,miserabele] sinners. Is it possible that the Ark will be revealed to us soon? 

We can't be sure. 

But... 

by studying Scripture, we can learn... 

about the new Ark of the Covenant, the Blessed Virgin Mary...

and how God gave Her a most essential role in our Salvation.

In Exodus, God gives Moses very specific directions on how to build the Ark. 

After all, His presence would dwell there. 

He wanted it to be made of wood covered with gold... 

and to have a lid [deksel] adorned with two Cherubim... 

between which God's presence would dwell [called the Mercy Seat...]. 

If God wanted His Commandments housed in a perfectly constructed container... 

how much more would He want the Word, Jesus, to have a perfect dwelling place? 

That's why He chose for Mary to be conceived without original sin.

In the Old Testament...

the Holy Spirit overshadows the Ark of the Covenant [Ex 40:33-38]. 

Similarly, the angel Gabriel says that the Holy Spirit will come to ´overshadow´ Mary.

-

When we compare the Gospel of Luke to 2 Samuel...

we see further proof that Mary is the new Ark. 

After the Annunciation, Mary travels to visit Her cousin Elizabeth across ´the hill country of Judah´ (Lk 1:39), the same land where King David left the Ark when it came to him (2 Sam 6:11). 

When Elizabeth hears Mary's greeting, Elizabeth's son, John the Baptist, leaps in her womb. The word for ´leap´ in the Gospel is the same word used in 2 Samuel to describe how King David danced before the Ark (2 Sam 6:14). 

Finally, Elizabeth and David use similar language when they question their worthiness to stand before so great a presence of God (2 Sam 6:9, Lk 1:43).

In addition to the Ten Commandments... 

the Ark also housed a golden jar of manna... 

as well as the rod of Aaron, which symbolizes the priesthood. 

Similarly, in Mary's womb, we have Jesus... 

who is the Bread of Life...

and also the High Priest.

If that's not enough to convince you that Mary is the new Ark... 

in the Book of Revelation, the Apostle John describes... 

seeing God's temple in Heaven open... 

and the Ark of the Covenant within. 

[Rev. 11:19]

In the very next two verses, John says... 

´A great sign appeared in the sky... 

a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet... 

and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 

She was with child and wailed aloud in pain... 

as she labored to give birth.´

[Rev 12:1-2]

Mary is the new Ark! 

Those who question why we Catholics revere Mary so much only need to look to Scripture. 

There they will learn about the essential role Mary plays in our Salvation.

On the 8th of December 1954...

Sister Reinolda [then 53] saw two figures... 

next to the altar in the Nongoma hospital chapel, before Holy Mass started: a monk with raised hands from which incense was rising, and a veiled woman showing something veiled - during Holy Communion, Sister Reinolda was enlightened that it was a veiled monstrance.

Eight months later... 

on the 22nd of August 1955...

Sister Reinolda had her first encounter with the Blessed Virgin Mary. Our Blessed Mother had chosen this date, which at the time was celebrated as the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Sister Reinolda describes her encounters with the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Benedictine Hospital, Nongoma as follows:

¨Shortly after receiving Holy Communion, Mary stood before me, very close by. I was drawn into another atmosphere. Mary showed herself in a wonderful light, more beautiful than the sun.

She was robed all in white – flowing veil from top to toe. 

Upon her breast rested a big host, surrounded by a brilliant corona, radiating life. 

She was a ‘living monstrance’. 

Mary stood upon the globe, hands and feet invisible.

It felt like entering a cloud, drawn by Mary away from the earth. 

I had my eyes closed, but I saw so much light, that I was very much dazzled... 

for several days by the beauty and the light I had seen.

Mary said:

´Call me Tabernacle of the Most High. 

You too are such a tabernacle, believe it!

I wish to be called upon by this Title for the Glory of My Son.

I wish that more such tabernacles be prepared.

I wish that the altars be surrounded by praying people more frequently.

Don’t be afraid, make it known.´

Q: ´To whom?´

A: ´Don’t be afraid, tell your priest.´¨

Sister Reinolda had a second and a third encounter... 

two months later, on the 20th of October 1955... 

and on the 22nd of October 1955.

It happened immediately after Holy Mass. 

It was the same figure, the same place. 

¨The same requests were repeated, but the following was added:

´Make these words known to everybody. Don’t be afraid, you are God’s tool.´

Then Christ came out of this big host and was in union with me.¨

Sister Reinolda informed Bishop Aurelian Bilgeri...

as Our Lady had asked.

Four months later... 

on the 15th of March 1956... 

Sister Reinolda had her fourth encounter with the Blessed Virgin Mary.

¨After Holy Mass Mary stood before me (serious). She said:

´My Child, I know about your anxiety.´

She bent down and drew me to Herself.

´You asked for a sign?´

´Not for me, for the others. So that they may believe, they do not believe me.´

´I wish that a shrine be erected for Me in the place where seven springs come together. 

There, I let My Graces flow in abundance. Many people shall turn to God.´

When I asked, ´where is the place?´... 

without words, She made a movement of the Hand. 

The Left Hand pointed majestically upwards in a certain direction. 

This made me very happy and I felt great assurance.

´Don’t be afraid, make it known, it is My work. I shall see you again.´

Three months later, on the 5th of June 1956...

a fifth encounter took place during Benediction. 

It was the Feast of the Sacred Heart.

¨She came out of the monstrance... 

and approached me as a living monstrance.¨

-

Five days after this apparition... 

at a retreat on the 10th of June 1956...

the following prayer was written by Sister Reinolda:

PRAYER TO

THE TABERNACLE OF THE MOST HIGH

Tabernacle of the Most High, in humility I beseech you, 

let me recognize the mystery of being a tabernacle. 

You were and You are the true Tabernacle...

not only of the Child growing in Your Womb... 

but You are the Christ-Bearer, Living Monstrance... 

totally one with Your Son in the Host... 

as You were one with Him under the Cross. 

Responding to Your Petition: 

‘Form more human souls into tabernacles’... 

You alone can do it. 

Show Your Motherly Power! 

Let flow the streams of Grace! 

Prepare souls who will understand it... 

and will be totally enraptured [in vervoering] by the firebrand of Love... 

from the Host in the Sacrifice of the Holy Eucharist. 

Save our world through the Host.

Mary, my beloved Mother, help me... 

and those entrusted to me... 

to reveal Your Mystery.

On the sacred day of Corpus Christi...

I descend to the world to remind you that you must adore the Son of God through the Blessed Sacrament that is offered by all the priests, My favorite/chosen sons of the world.

On this day, when the Sacred Blood and the Glorious Body of Christ are venerated by humanity, I invite all those who do not live in Christ to decide to do so, so that, absolved by His Mercy, they rediscover the Kingdom of God in their interior.

See My Son: glorious, humble and poor in the Eucharist. 

Visit him and talk to him about everything that grieves your little hearts. 

In the Holy Mystery of the Eucharist is the Science of God... 

which can convert your lives and arrogance... 

by the simple fact of confessing... 

and receiving communion of the Body and Blood of Christ.

Today is a holiday in Heaven. 

The Redeemer gives himself again out of love for you... 

this time through the Holy Eucharist. 

Blessed are those who commune today in gratitude... 

because their consciences will receive the Grace of a redeemed life in Christ.
