In de verte zie je een verloren schaap dat achtervolgd wordt door een wolf - de vijand komt uit een grot en wil het graag verslinden, maar spreekt men het Weesgegroet uit, en smeekt men om hulp, dan zal de aartsengel Sint-Michiel verschijnen, neerdalend uit de hemel, met zijn beschermende schild en de pijl, waarmee hij in de kop van de vervloekte wolf zal inslaan.

Deze monnik stichtte de Primitieve Broederschap van de Kudde van Maria. 

De eerste sculptuur, in zijn opdracht, werd in 1704 gemaakt door Francisco Antonio Ruiz Gijón. Het was een beeld van de Maagd gekleed in kleding die werd meegenomen in een processie vergezeld door parochianen die de heilige rozenkrans baden. Sri Shuka [Shukadeva, son of Vyasa] said:

(1) This inquiry of yours for the good of all people is the best thing you can do, because this subject of study, oh King, carries the approval of the transcendentalists, and constitutes the supreme of all that is worth the attention.

(2) Oh Emperor, there are countless subject matters to hear about in human society, that are of interest to those who - attached to their household life - are materially engrossed, and are blind to the reality of the soul. (3) They spend their lives, oh King, with sleeping and making love during the night, and with making money and taking care of their family during the day. (4) Overly attached to the fallible allies of the body, the children, the wife and everything thereto, they - despite their experience - do not see the finality of these matters.

(5) For that reason, oh descendant of Bharata, Hé must be discussed, glorified and remembered, who as the Supersoul, the Supreme Personality, the controller and vanquishing Lord, frees those who are of desire from their anxieties.

(6) All this analyzing in the knowledge of yoga of one's particular nature and how a person after being born should attain the full awareness of the Supreme, in the end only concerns the remembrance of Narayana. (7) In general, it are the sages, who - free from the material modes - having mastered the prescriptions and restrictions, oh King, take pleasure in especially describing the glories of the Lord.

(8) This story called the Bhagavatam contains the essence of the Vedas, and was by me at the end of this Dvapara-yuga [the age of honoring monarchs] studied, under the guidance of my father Dvaipayana Vyasa. (9) Despite being fully accomplished in transcendence, the enlightened verses about the Lord's pastimes drew my attention, oh saintly King, and thus I studied them.

(10) I will recite it to you, because you, oh goodness, are a most sincere devotee. They who respectfully dedicate their full attention to it, very soon will realize an unflinching [onwankelbaar] faith in Mukunda [Krishna as the Lord granting liberation].

(11) For both those who crave free from piously exercising respect, and for yoga practitioners who are free from fear and doubts, oh King, the according to tradition repeating of the name of the Lord constitutes the approved method. (12) What is the use of spending one's years as an ignoramus in this world without having [this] experience? The hour one deliberately spends in service of the higher cause is the better one.

(13) The saintly king known as Khathvanga cast aside everything, when he knew that he had but a moment to live longer in this world, and thus experienced the full security of the Lord. (14) Oh member of the Kuru family, therefore also your life's duration that is limited to seven days, should inspire you to perform everything that traditionally belongs to the rituals for a next life.

(15) Facing the end of one's life, one should be free from the fear of death, by cutting - with the help of the weapon of non-attachment - with one's desires and everything material associated with them.

(16) In pious self control leaving one's home behind, one should head for a sacred place, and - properly cleansed - in solitude sit down, in a position in accordance with the regulations.

(17) The mind should then be turned to the three sacred transcendental letters [A-U-M]. Regulating one's breath one thus should get the mind under control, so that the primary cause of the absolute Spirit is not forgotten.

(18) With the intelligence as the driver, the [horses of the] senses with the help of the mind should be led away from their objects. The mind that is motivated for results should for that purpose consciously be fixed on the auspicious cause.

(19) Not allowing to be distracted by the outside world, one thereafter consecutively focusses one's mind on the different parts of His body. One should thereto not think of anything else but the refuge of the Supreme Lord Vishnu who thus pacifies the mind.

(20) Because of the passion and inertia of nature, the mind is always agitated and bewildered, but one will get that under control in the concentration of the ones pacified, in the focus that puts an end to all impurity. (21) They who, fixed in the habit of such a systematic remembrance, seek unification and hold on to this devotion will soon be of success under the shelter of the yoga that approves this.

Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda said:

"Giridhari is ever present.

Only when one rises above human ways, one will experience him - as only experience teaches you, as He is beyond explanation... When you rise above the cloud of human consciousness, the Divine reveals Himself.

Suppose you dip yourself in water. All around you will be water. If you raise the head from the water, all around you will be the world above. In this same way one is drowning within the mind conscious-ness. When one rises through true knowledge, the thought rises beyond mind consciousness. And then God reveals Himself at once.

Forget the limitation for a single moment...

and you will be face-to-face with Krishna."

The Giridhari Gopal Murti is the Murti that originally belonged to Mirabai.
During a satsang that took place in October 2014 in Viseu (Portugal) Sri Swami Vishwananda said:


"This Giridhari Gopal belonged to a saint named Mirabai. She lived in the 16th century and was in ecstatic love all the time. When she was five years old, a wedding took place and she saw the bride riding past a horse. At that moment, she asked her mother, 'Where is my bridegroom?' The mother pointed to the Murti and said, 'He is your husband.' And so she began to love him like a husband. Mirabai was a princess. She had everything, but she was madly in love with Krishna. The only thing she could think of was to serve Him and sing for Him.

Then she got married. The husband understood nothing. Every day he heard his wife talking to someone, and there was a male voice in the room. So he began to doubt his wife. One day he got so angry that he opened the door, but he found only Mira and Giridhari in it.

Giridhari Gopal spoke to her. For her, this Murti was not just a statue. It was Krishna Himself and she talked to Him. Because of her devotion, she danced like a madman through the streets of Vrindavan and people said: "Look at this woman, she's a princess! See how crazy she is!" But no one dared to stop her. Because she was so engrossed in love, that her body radiated that love. And whoever came into contact with this love, was also infused with it.

Then one day, she was accused by her family in law of many things. "As a punishment," they said, "you must drink poison." Everyone had gathered. Mirabai held her Murti in her hand and silently said: "This is not poison. This is Amrit, holy nectar." She first offered it to Giridhari. The poison turned into Amrit.

Mirabai was so filled with love for Giridhari, that she merged with a Krishna statue at the age of 83 at the end of her life. It was not this statue here, but another one. This little statue was her life-long companion. This year, He decided to come to me... And today He choses to see you!

So devotion creates this Bhav (state), this connection to God which is beyond the mind, beyond the body, and even beyond the mind. Therefore, this state is called Maha Bhav, where the Supreme Himself comes..."

Vijf jaar geleden, in 2014, bezocht Guruji op pelgrimsreis in India de tempel waar Mirabai, een heilige, na haar overlijden met het Krishna-beeld zou zijn versmolten.

Mirabai leefde in de zestiende eeuw en staat bekend als een groot bhakta, symbool voor volledige devotie en overgave aan Krishna. Zij droeg altijd een beeldje van Krishna op haar hart. Mirabai leidde een leven dat gekenmerkt werd door grote veranderingen en bedreigingen. Meerdere malen werd zij door haar liefde voor Krishna op miraculeuze wijze gered.

Guruji heeft in deze tempel op wonderlijke wijze hetzelfde beeldje van Krishna gekregen. Hij noemde deze murti Giridhari Gopal [=Krishna]. Sindsdien wordt Giridhari dagelijks door Guruji vereerd, en gaat altijd met Hem mee op reis.
