Patients were required... 

to say prayers for their benefactors.

For the brothers and sisters who cared for them.

For the civic and the ecclesiatical authorities who presided over the hospital.

By the 15th century, the financial aspects were presided over by the city...

And they had special people who were appointed, the guardians, to watch over that.

And there was also the bisshop of Tournai/Doornik, who presided over the personnel...

who were of course religious -  he also was allowed to review the finances...

the annual report of the finances.



These were the two top male and female officers, of the religious.

Anthony Seghers was the spiritual master of the hospital.

Jacob de Ceuninc was the bursor [econoom].

You can see them with their patron saints:

Saint Anthony Abbot and Saint James.

Agnes de Casembroot, hospital prioress...

has Saint Agnes, with her little sheep.

And sister Clara van Hulsen has Saint Claire...

who is holding a monstrance.



These are their name patrons.

So that we can identify who they are...
