yā  kundēndu  tuṣāra  hārā  dhavalā
yā  śubhra  vastrāvr̥tā

yā  vīṇā  vārā  ḍaṇḍā  manditākārā

yā  śvētā  padmāsanā

yā  brahmā  acyutaḥ  śaṅkara  prabrithibhiḥ

dēvī  sadā  pūjitā

sā  māma  pātu  sarasvatī  bhagavatī

niśyēśā  jyādyāpaḥ

thou who
as a jasmine flower, the moon
or a snow flake are dressed in white

whose veena sweetens the wind

who are in the white lotus seated

to whom both Brahma and Shankara pray

o Goddess, worshipped eternally allover the world

being the Mother Goddess, Saraswati Bhagavati
