The link between the Venerable Marie-Thérèse de Lamourous and Saint Faustina...



FRANCE, BORDEAUX

Marie Therese-Charlotte de Lamourous...

[born in Barsac in 1754, died in Bordeaux in 1836, on the photo bottom right]

founded, after the French Revolution, in Bordeaux, touched by the misery and condition of young prostitute girls, the Work of the Mercy. This Work was to become, in 1818, the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy. This Congregation was the starting point of the epic of the Sisters of Mercy.

The Cause of Beatification of Marie-Thérèse de Lamourous is open. 

She was proclaimed Venerable in 1989.

FRANCE, LAVAL

At the time of the foundation... 

Marie-Thérèse Rondeau... 

[born in Laval in 1793 and died in this same city in 1866, bottom left in the photo]

came to Bordeaux, sent by her Confessor, to do her Novitiate there. She will export to Laval the Congregation of Mercy, which will take its autonomy and take the name of Sœurs de Notre Dame de la Miséricorde

The Beatification Cause of Thérèse Rondeau is open. 

The Congregations of Bordeaux and Laval merged in 1971...

and from this merger was born the Sœurs de Marie-Joseph et de la Miséricorde

POLAND, WARSAW

In 1861...

the Polish Princess Teresa Ewa Potocka... 

[top right, born Sułkowska Countess Potocka,1814-1881] 

and two other women went to Laval, to the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy... 

to familiarize themselves with the working methods of the nuns, and set up a similar work in Poland.

After having mastered the spirit, the customs and the rules of the Miséricorde de Laval, the three Polish women adopted the religious habit and a new name, and then returned to Poland. 

Teresa Ewa Potocka founded the congregation of the Sióstr Matki Bożej Miłosierdzia on November 1, 1862 in Warsaw, which will be definitively approved by the Holy See on December 10, 1927. 

The Cause for Beatification of Teresa Ewa Potocka is open.

Saint Faustina Kowalska... 

[1905-1938, top left] 

was a member of this congregation. 

She was the instrument through which the Lord revealed His Divine Mercy.
