The person and role of Mary, Mother of Jesus the Saviour...
to the salvation history is very well highlighted in the Pilgrimage Centre.
The Mother of Jesus the Saviour is our Mother also, and as such, we honour her in a very special way. How did that come to be? Again, it started with special devotion Father Edeh had to the Blessed Virgin Mary in his early formation in the seminary.
During his seminary days, he was so devoted to Mary that he said his Rosary in season and out of season. This made his fellow seminarians to nickname him 'Edeh Sancta, Edeh Sanctimonosity' expressing his life of piety.
Thursdays of every Pilgrimage week, is specially dedicated to the Mother of Jesus the Saviour.
Votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated at the old site - Convent of Sisters of Jesus the Saviour, where Our Lady first appeared in Elele - after which Marian procession moves from there to the Pilgrimage Centre and ends at the Marian Shrine.
After a brief homily, the section ends with Benediction. After about two hours of respite, mid-night Holy Mass begins in the Marian Shrine the end of which brings the Thursday pilgrimage week activities to an end. Besides the Founder’s devotion to Our Lady, Marian Procession and Devotion is also strongly connected to Mary’s apparitions in the Centre.
