The Puebla document...
contains a statement that, rightly understood, fills us with hope:
Poverty is a palpable reality in Latin America – the stamp that marks the great mass of people. At the same time, these masses are not only open to receive the Beatitudes and the Father’s predilection, but are capable of being the genuine protagonists of their own development.
The poor are a sign in Latin America.
The masses of our nations are poor...
and for this reason they are capable of receiving God’s gifts.
And, when filled with God...
they are able to transform...
their own societies.
