The Mind is our real self.
It is not our self, the body. A monkey has a body too. But we aren't animals, without logic.The fight happens on a double level. The demon fights us with a practical and a mental way.
In a practical way, demons spin our soul onto them, enter unto our soul and spin their energy until we resemble them, and thus motivate us to do bad things. You know: steal, lie, murder, lust issues, gluttony issues, injustice actions, etc.
If the demon fails on the practical level, he comes in our brains, and gives us illogical thoughts. So here, be careful very much! We must keep the Mind out of this. When a thought enters to our brain, we must examine it. If it's bad, oppss... get out, Satan! I am a logical being! Avoid anything when it's insanely. Because these belong to animals.
And the Mind rules all the insanely desires and passions.
By the... confession (!), Jesus Christ keeps us out of sins.
