guru vinden

uit de satsang van 1.6.2019
enkele vragen...

Q: How do you find your Guru?

A: Actually, it is not you who finds the Guru. You must have the longing. Once you have the longing, once you want to have a Guru, once you have the longing to find your Master, your Master will come to you. It is the Guru that finds you, actually.

So the disciple has only the longing for it. Very often, I have this question. People say: "I am looking for my Guru"... No, you can't be looking for your Guru. Your Guru is looking for you, from no matter where you are in the world, the Guru will come to you. But you must have this longing... If you don't have that longing, he will not reveal himself.

And also one thing, once you find your Guru, surrender!

People take Gurus left right, left right. But just taking Gurus left and right will not lead you anywhere. You must surrénder to the Guru.

Once somebody asked a great saint from South India: "Please tell me, what IS surrender?" That is a big question, you know, because everybody is talking about surrender... So the saint called his wife, who was living close, and he said to her: "Bring me and show me the lamp!"

So the wife, without asking any question - not: "It is daylight, where do you need the light for?...", what most people would say - without asking any question, she brought the light and showed him.

That is surrender.

Sant Kabir, another great saint from Varanasi, once said to his disciples: "Today I want you to serve salty prasad." And straight away, they started distributing salt as prasad to everybody. Without asking any question.

That is surrender.

As long as you reason, you are not surrendered.
