Before the trespass...
Adam was in Paradise and had everything he wanted.
And everything happened according to his will: the wild animals and the domestic animals and all the feathered birds, all drew near, left and fled at his command. Apart from Adam's command nothing was allowed to move around, or land, or eat anything before Adam permitted it.
It was the same with Eve.
