Monte di Cristo is a hill...
covered by a thick wood...
from which it is possible to admire the whole panorama of the city of Schio.
In the holy week of 1969...
16 years before the apparitions began...
Renato Baron, with the young people of the parish of Poleo, brought to the top of the hill, along a road that started from the Aste hamlet, an iron lattice [traliewerk] cross, which was blessed on Good Friday, March 29th, 1969.

On April 10th, 1986...
during an apparition in the church...
among other things Our Lady said:
'Tomorrow, you will also see me outside this church, because the time has come. Not everyone accepts me here, but do not be afraid'...

The following day...
Renato and some collaborators, after a day of search in all the churches and places of worship, waited in vain for Maria to appear.
Around 10.30pm, under a pouring rain, they decided to go up to Belmonte (today Monte di Cristo), and at 11:15pm, the Holy Virgin appeared to Renato, who literally fell on his knees in the mud, and received the Marian message:
'My children, My children, here will not send you away anybody. You had the courage to raise this cross. Always lift up the cross, do not be ashamed. Those who come here to pray, Jesus will bless. I will be with you. I thank you and I bless you.'

Therefore, Renato and his collaborators placed 13 crosses on this road.
To signify the stations of the Via Crucis - the 14th being the cross in lattice [traliewerk].
From that day, every week (at the beginning on Wednesday, today on Friday), people meet to walk and pray the way of the cross with deep devotion.

On the top a stone altar was raised in 1986.
The bronze statue of Jesus and that of the Madonna were placed in 1987.
In this place, the Madonna has placed Her Feet hundreds and hundreds of times, and almost weekly, for almost twenty years, has left Her Messages. Today, you can still breathe the presence of Her, that She promised would be constant, even after the end of Her apparitions.
